twofairhandsBy Rochelle Owusu- Antwi: Staffordshire University played host to its first ever crafts party where people were given a chance to try their hand at arts and craft.

Two Fair Hands Craft Party was organised by third year university student Ella Darlington on the College Road campus in Shelton, with the help of friends.

Self-confessed crafting addict Ella told StaffsLive: “The decision to host the party was purely so that a load of people who fancied something different could enjoy an inexpensive, but totally satisfying project.

“I wasn’t sure how it would go or how many people would turn up but it proved to be a fantastic evening. Everyone enjoyed themselves and learnt something new.”

Activities on offer included creating a decorative chain of bunting, learning how to knit and embroidering hand-crafted messages in frames in time for Mother’s Day.

Margaret Daniels, 23, said: “It’s a really unique event and experience. I wouldn’t normally think to do something so creative of my own accord.

“Most people haven’t done crafty things since school. It’s great that an event like this is reintroducing these skills again at university.”

Homemade brownies, vintage sweets and fruit punch were provided for guests, while Staffordshire student Yvonne Eba also read poetry.
